Daniel is wheelchair bound and is dependent on his family and friends in almost all aspects of care. The nature of Daniel’s disability means that even the smallest task of getting to and from school each day can be a difficult and tiring experience – both physically and emotionally for Daniel and his parents – with it often taking his mother over half an hour to help Daniel into the car.
Daniel, an enthusiastic and energetic fifteen year old who loves school and spending time with his friends, often had to either miss spending time with his friends or add an extra hour to his morning before school which he found very difficult.
Now, thanks to Variety, his life has changed for the better. Variety awarded the Keyzer family a grant so that Daniel’s parents could purchase a car built especially for people with disabilities.
Now Daniel can travel to and from school each morning easily and without physical pain, look out of the front window of the car and chat with his friends and family.
Like many children and families throughout the country, Daniel and his family are immensely grateful to Variety, The Children's Charity.
