Variety's National Advisory Council and Ambassadors have a true dedication to special needs children and philanthropy. Variety is honoured and grateful to have the active involvement of our Ambassadors in fundraising and children's events around the country.
Melissa Doyle co-hosts Sunrise on the Seven Network and has been involved with Variety for eleven years now, half of those as a board member.
Melissa Says: "It is with pride that I continue to lend my support to Variety, the Children’s Charity, both because of what they do, but more importantly how they do it.
The volunteers take children on regular outings and picnics because they want to; the ladies of variety organise the most incredible Christmas party because it makes 5000 children happy; board members juggle the considerable work load on top of their own busy lives because they know they are making a difference; the office staff work above and beyond because they believe in what they are doing.
But most importantly, you, the friends of Variety give so much of your time and money because you know we really are helping sick, disadvantaged and disabled children. These kids NEED to get out and see the sunshine, they NEED new wheelchairs or artificial limbs, they NEED technology to walk, talk or listen. In many cases if it wasn’t for Variety, this simply wouldn’t happen. And what is most heart warming is that at a time when most families are finding it tough, more and more are helping those less fortunate … in fact donations have risen 25% for the past two years.
Last but not least, I am inspired by the way volunteers and fundraisers lend their support. It is not for accolades or public recognition. In many cases it is only the child and their family who know and appreciate just how much Variety actually does. That is what charity really is."
